my word! my word! what kind of a koo.koo day was that, miss kim?
funny how one can immerse themselves into textures
to forget the rest of the day ... *giggle*!
just putting this image up quick for now, but will be back later
with the recipe ...
it's a doozy ...
count them ...
eleven layers.
catch you shortly!

let me start at the beginning with this image ...
i was in the vegetable garden on sunday, digging out the old including a whole bunch
of my self-seeded sunny flowers (i leave them there for the birds in the winter and the earth worms
like their roots in the spring) ...
i was taken back by this heart shaped sunny and how it was entwined with the other flower ...
true love.
the image i took was too stark and cold (mouse over to see), so i knew it needed a little texture work to warm it up ...
then the fun began ...
i thought i would share all the 'ingredients' i used to give you a visual ....
this was just like cooking ... i knew the outcome i was trying to achieve (how i wanted it to 'taste') ...
so i keep adding a pinch of this and a pinch of that ...
. slight adjustment curves to original, brightening it a bit
. added your rich 'earthy vignette' texture (top centre), soft light, layer mask brushing out the flowers
. added your 'distress' texture (top left), multiply blending, layer mask brushing out the flower heads
. added a solid layer of golden colour, soft light
. added my 'whirlies' texture (bottom centre), soft light, 21% opacity, layer mask brushing out flower heads
. added my 'naughty' texture, multiply, 63% opacity, layer mask soft brushing flowers and just around flowers
. added my 'dad's rusty truck' texture, soft light
. added the text layer (a song for bee), overlay blending, opacity 40%, layer mask, brushing out flower heads and stems
so, that's the 'basic' recipe which you can see on my flickr rivulet ...
but then i was thinking about our conversation about wanting to sometimes add more to an image to tell more of a story ...
so, i ...
. added my birdhouse image (top right), soft light blending, layer mask removing edges
. added my rocking chair image (bottom left), soft light, 63% opacity, layer mask removing edges
phew, i need to sit down.
i have to say the process of textures and layers can certainly transform an image taking it
to levels unimaginable!
closing off this posting, once again ...
looking forward to a new day and sunshine in all the right spots :)
cheerio for now,

Simply wonderful, I know it is amazing how much of a day one can spend on an image like this, but the result is so worth it! Lovely.
