thought i would send you a few images of the monkshood that i was telling you are blooming now ...

they do appear somewhat reverent, don't they?

lined up, heads bowed ...

such a vivid and rich purple ...

monkshood is also known as wolfbane and as attractive as they are, best not be putting any part of this plant in one's mouth, as they are highly poisonous!

i wondered if your gardener john might be interested in what gardener doug green (do you think that is his real name *wink*!) has to say about this plant and more ... : )

Monkshood is one of my favorite flowers, I have a big patch right outside my studio window, but here it doesn't bloom until late August or early September.
