good morning dear kim!

i wanted to share today after being away away yesterday ... and seriously? nearly swept away in those flash flood rains ~ very relieved you let brett take the escape ... it was NUTS on the highway!

know what i love about your image from yesterday? it is the soft and gentleness of the flower shining above and beyond the moody (like that!) area ... so hopeful ... thank you!

as you can only imagine ... i have been putting my trusty zebra wellies to great use lately ... and darn tootin! i took them to the big city yesterday ~ just in case of floods (if only i knew ...) ...

but, let's go back to the beginning of saturday ...

when i got up and it was so dark because of the stormy weather ...

we needed to get away 'bright' and early and while i was upstairs getting ready, a motion outside our north bedroom window caught my eye ...

inspecting closer i realized that our outer window was hanging on by a bit on the bottom corner!

i dashed to run downstairs to tell hb ...

S M A S H

too late.

the wind had pushed over a tree in the bush across from the house ...

knocking down the hydro line to the house ...

which was attached to a board next to the window ...

which set the whole thing in motion ...

the window came down and smashed into the kitchen window below, but thankfully only breaking the outside window (and the upstairs window is lying intact in the flower bed?) ...

whoa.

so, hb and twin b managed to get things 'together' in the wind so that things would be secure til we got home again ...

with the winds, i had tucked a few trays of my bedding plants next to the house to protect them ...

not anticipating that the flash flood rains that would occur while we were gone would mean a deluge of water off the roof onto the poor little tomato plants absolutely stripping them of their soil ...

i've never!

deep breath.

well, but as you and i always say, there are blessings.

and i know a great deal of our blessings are soulful and relate to emotional storms ...

but this time we are counting our blessings we didn't lose our power ... that the inside windows didn't break (those 4 inches of rain would have been in our house!) ... i have soil to give the plants to help them live ... we travelled safely to gather with family (what else are you going to do on a day like that?) ...

and blessed that there seems to be a bit of calm after the storm ...

forever blessed for our friendship ...

quack quack,
prairiegirl

ps. there have been a lot of comments around fb about building arks ... i was wondering, do you have noah's number in your contacts? i wouldn't mind getting a reservation ... and hopefully a spot next to a well-mannered soft, cuddly panda bear ... xo
